I just finished my first page with a list that will help visitors with how to name a dog, but this category is fun and begs for more, I think! I contacted the resource I used for the lists of dog names, and my contact there was nice enough to send me two more updated lists that I will be sharing with you within the next few days. Veterinary Pet Insurance is the company that has compiled the lists of the most popular dog names since their record-keeping began in 1980, but my contact there informed me that the information on their site has not been updated since 2004. He was nice enough to forward me the information that covers all of 2006, and now that I have a contact there, I will keep in touch and watch for the full year 2007 list when they publish their press release and request that one as well. I just totally re-worked my "Games Kids Can Play" page, and have added so much to it- I'm really excited. I hope you all will enjoy the games I found to add to the page. I have also added a lot of graphic elements and revamped the whole look of the games page, so it's a lot more fun to look at too, I think. I now have eleven dog-themed games accessible from the Games Kids Can Play page, which range from a Clifford phonics game that is appropriate for pre and emerging readers, all the way up to dog-themed flash games that will even challenge adults, but that are definitely geared for kids and younger teens in their appeal. I hope you will enjoy checking them out!

The Kids Spot is up and running, but is not totally complete yet. I have a few more items to add later this evening. I also have to revamp the "Games Kids Can Play" page because I have a lot more games to add to that page. For a sneak peek, just check the "Especially For Parents" page, which lists the games I will be adding. Some of these new games are really fun, and I am pleased that I was able to find some additional high-quality dog-themed games to add to the site. My 10 year old daughter tests them for me, and she gave them all the "thumbs up" so they passed the kids test, which is good. More later!

I just completed a guide for parents, relating to my section designed for kids- "Kids Spot." By the end of the day I should have "Kids Spot" completed, which will pull together all of the games, activity and coloring pages, stories- basically all the parts of the Dog Paw Print site that kids can relate to and enjoy. I will be adding dog-themed book reviews to both the parents and kids pages in a later step. Since I am re-arranging the navigation to many of these pages, if you have trouble finding something, hang tight. After I finish this phase of the kids section, I will create a site map to help you find the pages that are not linked directly to the Navigation Bar. I just thought I would keep you posted.... Aug 5, Site Received Family-Friendly Designation

I just applied for and received a listing in the Family-Friendly Sites Directory, so there is a new emblem on my home page now. Here is a link to their guidelines, but basically what this means is that my site has been checked out to be free from any offensive material that parents would be concerned about (like language, inappropriate content, etc.). Since my whole site is designed for the family, I wanted my visitors to know that I offer a safe, appropriate environment for their children to visit- a place where they can come to learn about and laugh about dogs. It is my hope that all family members will find age-appropriate things to do on the Dog Paw Print site,in so that everyone can get involved finding their family's special dog. Speaking of kids, I am in the process of moving things around a bit on the site. My numbers of pages are growing, and I think it is time to create a page Just For Kids section, that links to all of the pages on my site relating to kids and dogs. I feel like I am really making some headway now with getting my breed recommendations completed and up for everyone to see! I just finished the Herding Group, after spending the last two weeks researching and making my final picks. All that is left now are two groups- the Non-sporting group, and the Miscellaneous Class. These two groups are much easier to tackle, and I have already completed my research, so I feel confident that I will have the rest of these pages up by the middle of next week. I have sooooo much that I want to write about! Lots of fun (and funny) as well as informative ideas! I just wish that there were 36 hours in a day (or that I didn't require any sleep.....) So stay tuned. I have an update to "Notes From the Fridge" to post, and am working on a page about traveling with your dog, as well as a Dog Music section. I'm glad that you are reading this. You are making my dream of sharing my love of dogs with the world a DREAM COME TRUE!! Be sure to check back next week. I expect to add three new pages in the next week. Also, as I get them finished, I will be adding individual pages on all of the recommended family dog breeds.
