Ok, we admit it. Notes from the fridge delight us.

We noodle around with our magnetic tiles and come up with funny (and sometimes poetic) dog quotes. We leave reminders and notes for each other- and from the dogs. Our daughter draws pictures for the refrigerator, usually dog-themed, and happily magnets them to the door for everyone who comes by to see.

Sometimes I try and tidy it up a bit, but we are a colorful family, and it usually doesn't stay that way for long.

How did refrigerators become such an expressive appliance? We don't know, but maybe that is something that warrants looking into. Or maybe we'll just look into the fridge and find a snack. (That is what our dogs are hoping for anyway).

Stinky Wrinkles- no foolin'

Refrigerator magnetic poetry about a pug with stinky wrinkles

OK- yeah. This is actually an Otis impostor, but my friend Beth made this cute magnet for my pug-addicted daughter even before we got our pug (see story here of how Otis found us) , so it graces our crazy-quilt refrigerator.

One of the rather disgusting things about pugs (besides the fact that they sometimes eat their own poop if given half a chance) is that stuff collects in the wrinkles on their faces and starts to stink, so it must be cleaned every few days to keep this from happening.

Thank God this is my daughter's job. Her "penance," so to speak, for adding another dog to the mix here. We hold her to the promise of being a dutiful wrinkle-cleaner.

Isn't it beautiful???Yes, this is Guinevere's favorite dog toy, which has amazingly lasted for at least two years now.Last night, we were watching the movie "Eight Below," and it was quite hard not to get distracted by the sounds of "lick, lick, lick, lick." She obsessively licks the knobby protrusions, which gives her some sort of enjoyment.

I have tried to wash this toy several times, but she has to go through the whole process of warming up to it again, and it looks gross again in just a few days, so I figure, why bother!

Although this doesn't really qualify as "Notes from the Fridge", because it isn't really up on the fridge, I just felt like sharing this. I think the green knobby doughnut will soon need a replacement, but I am having trouble finding it. I have called a few pet stores, but suddenly felt like the Parker Posey character in "Best in Show," neurotically describing her Weimeraner's missing, and important-to-her Busy Bee. Wow.

Note: Spell-check is telling me I should consider spelling Weimeraner as Weisenheimer. I think I should go back to bed. It is only 5:15 AM. I am not ready to face the spell-checker...
